2017 Max Trailering Built to Order

Recommended Posts

The Intellibeams work great!! , Once you get them turned on.......

once you read the procedure at least 3 times in the manual.....lol

get them turned on they are great, but if you do a flash to pass or manually change beams they turn off and stay off till you reactivate them

Agreed LOL!! Once I read the manual it was easy. Funny how we have to resort to reading that thing every once in awhile.

Finally fig’d out how to turn on the IntelliBeam system. Manual not so Intelli helpful. Found a blurb on a Cadillac site, one poster said he sat in a dark garage – and hit the flash-to-pass twice, then high beam once. So I sat parked in the dark and tried the 3-step method - That did it! The 2017 Silverado Owner’s Manual clearly says hit the high-beam twice – that does NOT do it!

To enable IntelliBeam system (with head-lamps in auto):

Hit the flash-to-pass twice, then high beam once.

The IntelliBeam indicator is located down in the lower part of the tach – to the right of the head-lamps on symbol. Even the symbol is different than the 2017 manual, the “A” is actually fully inside the symbol.

The IntelliBeam indicator is green in color. (And smaller than the blue high-beam indicator up in the H2O temp gage).

If you use flash-to-pass while driving, you do NOT lose the setting. (Manual again in error).

If you manually turn on the high-beams you lose the symbol, and would have to reset.

If you turn on the fog lights you lose the symbol, but when you turn the fog lights off it comes back.

If you turn off the truck – the setting remains when started again.

There's also a time element involved with this. I was messing with it the other night and I believe I got it to activate by hitting the high beams (not flash to pass) and turning them off right after; on/off. That got the intellibeam indicator to turn on and then by doing the same thing again, it deactivated it. If you wait too long before going back to low beam, it doesn't activate. Now I'm curious LOL! I'm going to play with it again tonight. I will say though that the Intellibeam system works the best out of all the other ones I've used. My wife's MB doesn't even seem to be as sensitive to tailights as this one is.

That got me thinking - so I covered the sensor on the dash in broad daylight to make the auto headlights work. Sure enough several combinations work - just not the one in the manual.

Flash-to-pass once - and high-beam once worked. Seems to be the easiest 2 step way.

High-beam three times worked......

So it's kinda like remote start - where you have to press two different things so it knows you are not butt dialing the remote start. Lock then remote start.

IntelliBeam enable: Hit the flash-to-pass at least once, then high beam once.

Got to witness the IntelliBeam system in action this morning at O'Dark:30....... Quicker than I would be at dimming the lights!

Also yesterday some annoying lifted truck with poorly aimed head-lights and fog-lights passed me in half a block just to pull in front and beat me to the next turn. This morning he tried to pull the same thing - so I put my foot into it a little and the 6.2L "roared' to life - surprised me a little how good it sounded and performed on wet streets - shut the door on him. :seeya:

I checked about 13 days ago and the code was 3100 with a target production week of 3/27/17. the fella that checked for me said I could check back in a couple weeks so I will try and check back in the next day or 2. I have my fingers crossed that it is moving along in the ordering process.

Hot tip if you just bought a rig or about to - go the Chevrolet.com and click on a vehicle at the dealer you will be dealing with. (Search by the dealer's zip code). Click on the "Shop Click Drive" coin and get a coupon like this emailed to you only for use only by you at your dealer.

http://www.chevrolet.com/silverado-1500-pickup-truck/locate.html#/

I took delivery last Saturday. Today I went to parts and got a nice Chevy Performance license plate frame, a cargo net, and an orange camo Chevy hat. Came to $103.50..... So with the coupon I paid $3.50....

Ka-Ching!

Any accessories listed on the Chevy site qualify........ and there are a lot! And anything hanging on the walls in the parts dept, like the Chevy hat.......

In Review:

Click on "Ship-Click-Drive"

Click "Continue" - the coupon application form will pop up.

One week of ownership, 350 miles mixed city and highway and filled it today when the low fuel warning popped up. The cap-less fill worked fine - it's like not knowing you are pumping gas. DIC says 16.1 mpg - I get 15.1 hand calc. Never trust a DIC. That was all M7 driving. Next 350 I will let V4 do it's thing.

Stumbled onto a good buy on Tuff-Bar stainless steel steps aka nerf bars - and discovered they are actually re-branded Westin steps. They even ship from Westin - same brand stainless tube step I had on my 2007.5 and very good quality. Either eBay or Amazon seem to have the best prices. I bought these on eBay from JC Whitney on Tuesday, and they arrived today via Fed Ex. ($269.76 delivered).

I liked this design because of the welded end caps - rather than just plastic plugs like most a made. These surfboards are 6" wide! Easier for the young and old to climb aboard..... And adds a little more bling....... :pimp:

Install took 30 mins a side - nice to work with new parts designed to fit well. Would make a good career.

Driver's side grab handle mod install - used a credit card to pry the rubber door jamb seal back enough to grab the plain cover with my fingers - popped right off - no tools - no touching the easily soiled headliner. (Why don't they have black headliners). Then just a matter of lining up the holes - thread on with a 1/4" nut driver as far as possible. Then carefully tightened with a 1/4" ratchet, being sure to protect the windshield from the ratchet handle.

Was thinking I would only use it for getting out - but it seems handy getting in too - no wonder they put them is HD's...... Now I am grab handle symmetrical.

This baby is a classic. Always loved the tri-axle Airstreams.

Nice rides both of you and congrats. Update all of us on how she handles the silver bullet!

Thanks, I will update you as I've had more experience towing with my new truck.

Regarding the Airstream (made right there in Jackson Center, OH), it's a 1991 and it's a 34' model. If you'd like to see some of the restoration work that I've done to it over the past several years, take a look at this thread. It's a very long thread (one of several on the trailer in AirForums) and I'd just recommend scanning the many pictures unless there's an area that you're particularly interested in.
