Big Whiskey's 2016 2500HD

I traded my 2012 Silverado 1500 for a new 2016 2500HD!

It's an LT trim level, but has quite a few options. It has the All Star package and LT Plus package, which adds most of the important items. It also has a few extras, like the LED bed lighting and towing mirrors. MSRP was just a little over 50k.

Here's a few completely stock, dealership photos. It looks pretty plain for a 50k truck!

Before I bought it, I had the dealership install GM mud flaps and a plastic drop in bed liner. I also swapped the factory 265/70/17 tires for some 285/75/17 Falken AT3W tires.

At the dealership the day I picked it up:

Love it bud! I'm super jealous, I've been wanting a crew cab 15+ HD since they came out. Enjoy it!

Thanks buddy! I'm very happy with it! I was trying to hold out until GM upgraded the gas engine in the HD's, but I couldn't wait any longer, haha. At least the 6.0 has a proven track record for reliability. It's the first crew cab I've ever owned, and the extra cab space is nice. I'm really torn on leveling it. It has about 3" of rake right now, which is too much (in my opinion)...but it rides and drives so nice that I hate to mess with it!

I definitely think you made the right decision. That 6.0L and 6L90E may not be monsters but they sure are reliable, and with a tune they can be fairly snappy. My buddy just picked up a left over 16 dmax, LT2, same color as yours. I rode in it last weekend and just absolutely fell in love. The interiors and the ride are amazing.

He went 3 or 4 turns on the t-bars, fit 305/55/20 Cooper Stt's on the stock 20's. Like you said though, he still has about 2" of rake on his and he is considering taking out the rear block. He only has a 7' door at the house so he really doesn't want to go up more. I just can't believe how big those new HD's are though, it is awesome!

Congrats!!!

Thanks again, man! I bet your buddy's Duramax is sweet! You're right, I can't believe how much these trucks are improved over the last generation.

I'm also considering just doing a few turns on the bars to raise it 1.5" or so and being done with it. I don't think that would effect the ride too much. I also have a standard 7' garage door, so I don't have much room to spare either. These trucks are huge compared to my old 1500! I already had to get a shorter radio antenna, because it was beating the crap out of my garage door, haha. Also, your buddy might be disappointed when he goes to remove the rear block...because HD's don't have a rear block. I think that's why a few guys are doing the drop shackle thing...

I feel like a moron, they definitely don't have a rear block. I even owned an '08 HD and never paid any attention. Hell, I did rear brakes and shocks and never even looked. Let's forget I said that lol.

Haha no worries man!

Congrats man, sweet truck!

Thank you, Daryl!

Well, the factory floor mats were terrible, so my first purchase was a set of Husky Weather Beater floor liners. Found a sweet deal on www.autoanything.com. Got the front and rear liners shipped to my door for $144 total.

I'm a tight wad, so that still seems like too much money to pay for some silly floor mats...but that's the going rate, and many others are quite a bit more expensive than these. The fitment is perfect and the coverage is much, much better than the factory mats. They cover up part of the super special Z71 sill plates, but keeping the carpet looking nice is a fair trade off.

There's two options for the rear liner. One covers the entire rear floor, and the other only covers the front half. I got the smaller one, because it was a package deal with the fronts. The carpet under the seat is still exposed, but I'm not too worried about that.

If you are going to level it I would check out this..

That is the best way to level these trucks IMO. I had shock extenders and 3inch keys in mine but the ride wasn't great, it was much improved after the fox 2.0s and the stage 4 cognitio and a pitman and idler support. The coilover kit came out shortly after I dumped 2k for the cognito
