The staff at GM-Trucks.com networks with other publications as much as possible. One group who we have been finding some very interesting reports from recently is iSeeCars.com. The publication conducts research projects that we love. One recent project looked at which models had the highest and lowest recorded owner complaints to NHTSA regarding safety. These are not trivial comments under blogs. These are complaints severe enough that owners sought out and then completed the full NHTSA safety complaint forms. iSeeCars compiled the complaints from 2005-2016 to reach its conclusions.

The lowest vehicle segment for complaints overall is the Pickup Truck class with 12.9 complaints per 10K cars sold. The overall vehicle safety complaint average is 26.8 per 10K sold. We were pleased to see that the Silverado and Sierra 1500 models earned a spot among the lowest overall models. The Silverado is third among all models with a score of just 6.5. Sierra is next with a score of 8.6. Both beat the rival Ford F-150's score of 9.3, though the Ford did quite well overall.

We know you wanted to also see the models with the most safety complaints, so we show those above. iSeeCars commented in their findings that the Prius appearance on the list relates directly to the sudden acceleration issues the Toyota brands struggled with in the 2006-2010 time period.

This begs to differ the thought that EVERY K2 that rolled off the line is a vibrator. We are a few of the near 850k trucks that were sold, alone in just 2016. That's probably 2-4 million K2 Silverados on the road since middle of 2013 when the K2 trucks launched. 6.5 complaints per 10 THOUSAND units. 6.5.

I wonder why the gmc has 2 more complaints than the chevy. :)

I am liking the 2016 for not reaching out and punching us in the face when we don't put a seat belt on.

I went to replace a seatbelt light in my 1996 to LED. I somehow shut the circuit off entirely.

fine by me.

I do like my seatbelt on the road, but like that it is not too invasive to enforce it.

The person who bought the GMC was envisioning "Professional Grade" not knowing that every 8th-10th vehicle on the CHEVY line is a GMC? The Chevy guy just goes oh....another problem what's new I will just keep driving and not even bother with the Happy Horse Shit Dealer experience!

This is a safety complaint report. This does not capture vibrators. More like seat belts not working right out and air bags not deploying are counted.

Every is a pretty strong word. Plenty of happy customers out there, I'm one of them. Hell, my '13 and '11 both had more vibration than my '15 does.

Yeah, I'm not buying the numbers either.

They seem to be hit or miss today ... and when it's "miss", they REALLY miss big! TONS of issues with my '07 right from day one with 40 miles on the clock. Plenty of horror stories all over the net of oil burners, engine grenades, cracked dashes, vibrators, shimmies, pulsating brakes, noisy, squeaky interiors, etc ...
