2017 GMC Sierra 3500 Denali with 1500 LED lights

Recommended Posts

Not my truck but here's 740izo6's truck 2017 GMC 3500 Denali running the new led lights with my headlight adapters. If you guys are interested I did this on my 14 All Terrain almost a year ago and this is the first set I've built for a 3500. If interested in the adapters they are plug in play with no wiring needed and load resistor included.

Here's my other thread: Start on page 20.

What is a Denail? I don't get it....

Isn't 3Ω a bit low, maybe 10Ω would do a better job.

I noticed it after I posted but unfortunately I cant edit the title. (If a mod can please) I used 6Ω 50w resistors. The harness in the first pic you're referring to was from early last year and that was a the first harness GEN5 made. I have since figured out no harness is needed to run these lights on SLT's/Denali. I cut and repined my factory wiring but most people dont want to do that so I made a solution. The last 4-5 pages have the new adapters I made.

If you go in '' Use full Editor'' I believe you can edit the title.

Try 10Ω 50W and I'm positive it will still work properly and you won't run the chance of melting plastic armour or setting fires lol.

Thanks fixed! The 6 get warm but its only on the turn signals so they don't constantly have power or stay on long. Most are pop riveting them to the core support or under the battery tray. I've had the 3 now for going on a year with no issues.

Got it! I was thinking DRL which are on all the time. Blinkers would run at half power and I was just thinking electronically out loud for efficiency purposes. But I'm feeling much better now.

Yeah drl needs nothing if you have an SLT or denali. Otherwise you'll need an external power for the DRL.

Can you post what trucks came with what version. It sounds like some may look the same but be HID and not LED. Some people may be checking junk yards. I am still a bit confused. I have a 2017 SLT and have the same lights as shown in the black 3500 in the before pic. Would this truck not come with LED's. Or is it changing to the better looking headlights. I want to switch to the black truck after pics.

16-17 1500 SLT/Denali's. The SLE's have HIDs and a center mounted halogen for the turn signal. The 16-17 2500/3500 still come factory with the 14-15 style lights but with HID now.

I'm looking at replacing the factory HID's projectors in my '16 2500 Denali with new aftermarket projectors. Would I be better off going with the 2017 1500 LED headlight instead? I'm disappointed with the factory HID's, how do the LED's compare? I've read that LED's don't have a lot of distance on high beam, any truth to that?

Maybe the aftermarket LED bulbs but these OEM are insane. Guess it all depends on what you want spend. These range from $900 used to $1500 or so new.
