6909p rev b box. anybody know what this is?

I have a push button switch underneath my dash. It says silencer on it. I followed the wire and it runs to a black box up underneath the dash. It says 6909p Rev B on it. Does anybody know what this is ? Is this a aftermarket part?.

I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 190,000 miles

Yep - aftermarket. I'd get a wiring diagram and rewire the truck the way it's supposed to be, and toss that in the trash, before it leaves you stranded someplace at any time in the near future. Just MHO.

I've pushed that button and it doesn't do anything. I've had a normal key fab lock, unblock and horn. So I don't know how it's a remote start ?

You probably don't have the remote for that system. Either that, or it's a replacement, & not programmed to it.

 

It could just be an alarm system, not a remote start system. They made a bunch of different ones. That link was just a reference. Either way I'd still chop it out of there before it fails.

 

Unfortunately you'll find out the hard way what it's connected to when it does ...
