72 GMC Pickup Wheel and Restore Question

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I will soon be getting a 72 GMC pickup from my parents who are retiring and moving out of the state. My plan is to sell my 2006 Sierra and put that money into the 72 to restore it. That said, I'm hoping someone can help me figure out 2 things.

I have an aftermarket set of wheels for my 2006 Sierra and I'm wondering if those would fit on the GMC? The size when I ordered them is: 22X9.56-139.7HR25BMM. Let me know if you need more information to help determine if those would fit. I don't even know if they have the same bolt pattern or not?

Also, I am in the Madison, WI area and am looking for some body shop recommendations for when I do have the money to restore it.

Thanks in advance!!

Jeff

Sorry for the delay in response. I was up by the truck this weekend and found that it has 8 lugs compared to the 6 that my Sierra has so the wheels will not work.

It is a 2500 Super Custom. I assume C2500 would be more accurate since it is 2 wheel drive?

Any suggestions on where to find a rebuilt Quadrajet carb for it? I suppose I could rip the one on it off and send it somewhere to be rebuilt too. I think to get it running I just need a new carb and battery.

The carb could be rebuilt by yourself if your a mechanical type guy. Look up Cliff Ruggles, he is a quadrajet master. His business is Cliff's High Performance. He will sell any parts you need that are compatible with the ethanol in today's fuel. He also has a do it yourself quadrajet book out that is very detailed on rebuilding and what to do and not do to these carbs. I have a quadrajet on a 68 Pontiac that I rebuilt using his book as a guide. Before rebuilding this carb I went through two Holley's and one edelbrock and I couldn't get any of them to work properly. The rebuilt quadrajet works better that I could have imagined. Do your homework and research what you want before spending your money, some people will tell you to get rid of that carb but you may be disappointed in how much tuning a aftermarket carb needs. Good luck sounds like a great project!!

Thanks for the reply! I have been in contact with Cliff and will likely be using his services to rebuild the existing quadrajet. Looking forward to it!

Thanks again!
