all I know is wait a few weeks or even months, they will keep mailing you special offers.

I know you can get it for less than 1/2 price, but its only temporary.

But I pay $0.00

My radio has many stations for free: music, talk, sports, etc.

NEVER EVER EVER EVER!!! let them charge your credit card. You'll never be able to cancel if you should wish to. Just accept paper billing. Oh and they like to wheel and deal on price. Just be nice and tell 'em what you can afford.

I've not paid more than 50% advertised rate for the past 3 years. I'll cancel before I do. It's just not worth it. Need more a la carte packages, instead of a bunch of crap you don't listen too. Much like DirecTV, Dish, and most cable companies. They are slowly getting the hint, but will it be too late?

Just give me Fox News, OZZY's Boneyard, and one or two like Classic rewind and that's about all I need. The only reason I don't subscribe now is that the music sounds Waaaay over compressed. If there were a way to get it to sound as good in my truck as well as it does on my Dish network that didn't cost a fortune I'd be all over it.

I always take the $5 a month for 5 months deal. Sometimes they give you 6 months for $25. I have three vehicles with Sirius/XM on the account and they all expire on the same day. With taxes and royalty fees it usually comes to about $86 for 5 months for 3 vehicles. I just call them on the last day and tell them to give me the deal or cancel all 3 accounts. I only listen to the news and the wife usually only listens to the 60's music so no great loss if we turn them off. I've never been able to quote me a deal on a 12 month subscription but maybe I will hold out for a deal on a full year next time.

And like the man said above......never give them your credit card. Pay the extra buck or two and have them mail you an invoice......and pay with a money order because if you send them a check they will auto renew by debiting your checking account.

Here's the way to do it. I have been doing this for over 6 years on 3 different vehicles:

  1. Call XM and ask for the Retention department.
  2. Tell them you want to cancel because you like it but it costs too much.
  3. They will make a reduced offer. POLITELY decline.
  4. After you do this around 3 times they will eventually get down to $25 for 5 months (the offers always go like this: full price, then $99 a year, then $50 for 6 months, then finally $25 for 5 months).
  5. Tell them you will take it at that price. Agree to paper billing (it will cost you $2 extra but they don't have a credit card on file to automatically renew at FULL PRICE later).
  6. Agree to the terms they read back to you.
  7. Set yourself a reminder to call back and repeat the process in 5 months.
  8. In about 2 weeks you will receive a bill in the mail. Just write out a check and mail it in.

If you do this it comes out to less than $7/month after royalty fees and taxes. I also have 2 radios active so it comes down a little more on the second one.

Like I said -- I have been doing this for years. As long as you are polite it usually takes less than 10 minutes on the phone to get this done.
