Consolidated dimming rear view & DL3 mirror upgrade detail list

Hey all.

I just completed the full mirror upgrade on my 16 GMC Sierra 1500 which included the auto dimming rear view and the DL8 to DL3 door mirrors. I figured I would consolidate all my notes into a single post for simplicity sake for all those interested. I just want to say everything here is more or less a consolidation of information pertaining to detailed work of pgamboa. He is well known within the forum and deserves the credit for the meat of the post. I am more or less the waiter delivering the goods together for your enjoyment.

 

The biggest item to mention is in reference to auto dimming rear view mirror. Pgamboa was able to find the actual terminals needed for the connectors under the dash. The actual terminals are $0.18 each vice the extremely overpriced GM “pre-wired terminal leads.”

 

I completed the rear view mirror upgrade for about $60 and the DL3 for $520 (mirrors $400, wire kit $50, $60 for door switch & $10 for supplies)

Yup !! Pgamboa helped me out too with lots of info & troubleshooting.

 

Just did it to my 2017 (might be the first '17 to do it ?? Lol) [emoji4]

 

I also did the diode mod so the spot lights come on with reverse.
