2017 Duramax 3500HD LTZ- Turbo Clamp

Recommended Posts

We just purchased a 2017 Silverado LTZ 3500hd dually. We were to pick it up Friday night after the dealer prep was done.

Dealer called prior to picking it up to let us know there was a problem. They would call when it was ready after a part was to come in Monday or Tuesday.

We went down Monday morning and spoke to a service tech directly since the sales people didn't know exactly what the problem was. He showed us the turbo clamp that had a 45 degree crimp in the metal ring. It was crimped so bad there was no way it would hold under any kind of pressure. It looked like it must have been done by a robotic assembly devise. A human hand could not have created that much of a crimp in the metal band. They said this is the second one they have seen like this.

They replaced the turbo clamp with a new one. We have our new truck. Hopefully that will be the only issue.

Just wanted to share. If they've seen two like this already there is probably more.
