Backup camera monitor at night.

Recommended Posts

I am noticing that when backing into a darker area at night, my side mirrors are hard to see with the backup display on. It is a little too bright and I would like to see my mirrors better. Is there a way to turn down the backup monitor screen at night? Or to even turn the monitor OFF, when I don't need it?

I too am interested in this. I tried holding the back button while in reverse, it only removed the grid lines. My truck has intelihaul, so I can select the back of the trailer cam to display, but leave it off. It shows a black screen, but is kind of fiddly to select when you are just hopping into the truck and zooming out at night.

I have the same problem... It literally lights up the whole truck interior... And no the dome light switch has no effect... At least not on 2017 HD

on my 2015 SLT the dome dimmer works and also lowers the dash but its the Radio/Nav is the one thats too bright

Yup, I checked because I wasn't sure, it does dim on my 15 with the big screen navigation system. Go get some tint, try different %s and lay it over dry, I bet it would stick by static and work out ok, put a little tab on it to peel off easily. I bet a shop has that stuff just laying around. Don't by any means do what that guy said and spray paint it a light black. Light Black? Yeah, tint over spray paint.

2017 GMC 2500hd Denali... same problem.

Talked to GMC about this... twice... the call center is just a number to call if you want to hear someone say "Take it to the dealer and ask them"...

The infotainment insert book (with the owners manual) says that the display options in settings should have three choices:

MODE - Day, Night, Auto

CALIBRATE SCREEN

DISPLAY OFF

Mine does not have "MODE".... Can someone in a 17 2500 check theirs?

Thanks

I have been through the menu on my 2017 HD several times and don't see this option either... It is so bright that it is difficult to see outside when backing.

Turn the IP light dimmer down, right next to the headlight switch.

It's impossible to back an RV up while the inside of my cab is lit up like the Vegas strip!
