Uhaul towing mpg

Recommended Posts

You didn't see those big decals on the U-haul trailer fenders that say: SPEED LIMIT 55 MPH" ?

I'm telling!!

I use their 6 x 12 box trailers a lot and they're great.

Lmao yeah about that

Too funny! It's not how fast you can go, the fun begins when you try to stop. But wait there's more, if you are involved in an accident, the tattle tale box tells the cops then they tell your insurance company who promptly cancels your policy for non-compliance.

Somebody always ruins the fun! Reality is difficult to accept

After all I have seen over the years, I would never pull a rented trailer more than 65 under any conditions. There is no way to know if the trailer is up to it or tires will not come apart.

Pulled with abandon for years until 2015. Pulled a boat one way and blow a tire, no problem changed and went on. Ready to do return and axle cracked, rotted at weep hole. Left it got new axle and new tires. Went back 340 miles stalled axle, tires etc. What could go wrong headed back, 200 miles out blow a new tire, 300 miles a second tire. Should apply for a pit crew position getting good at tire changes.

Sad to say I am not as confident or trusting as I once was. Learned a lesson without paying a high price so consider myself lucky. Will leave the rental Uhaul to others.

250 miles today with an enclosed Uhaul 5'X10' tandem axel trailer. Mix highway and in the city (85/15). Mix loaded and unloaded (50/50). Trailer weight 1250# according to Uhsul website. A couple times I hit 71-72mph.

Exactly 15mpg on the dot, manually calculated. Excellent!
