98 gm truck truck starts then dies right away

had a remote start installed still did it

had the remote start removed

new fuel pump

new fuel pump relay

new fuel filter

it does it with no warning may be weeks or months before it does it again.

Last time it happened after it shuts off i can spray ether after it dyes while turning it over it will run so something is shutting off fuel?

most of the time after 10 min it will start BUT not all the times?

tried disconnecting battery for 10 min still no help.

I guessing it the factory security is the problem can it be bypassed?

Sounds like you nailed it with your guess of the security system. I had a 98 with similar starting issues. They found a loose wire inside the steering column connected to the passlock system.

Huge PITA until diagnosed. But if that's what it is, its a fairly cheap fix. good luck.

my own has no extras, all factory..

if going from real cold evening to a warm sun, I can get a stall right after start...but it always starts.

this means return line and tank pressure can't keep up.

doing it often, I 'd verify there is a return action/ fuel venting.

a hydro lock of sorts.. complicated one.

for me it is a maine event. pun intended. Very rare.. needs exacting weather.
