2017 Silverado hesitates and reduced MPG

Recommended Posts

My 2017 Silverado 1500 has 750 miles. First tank of gas got 16.9 MPG. Not long after I got it, it started to hesitate, especially if you ease on the gas pedal. Since then, the hesitation is more noticeable and my mileage has dropped to 13.6 MPG. I have an appointment to take it in Friday, but was wondering if anyone has experienced this in a new truck. If not, I'll follow up with my experience and what they find.

I haven't noticed a flex in the pedal, but how would that relate to the drastic drop in fuel effeciency?

Saw a post about how much flex there is with the pedal, that your issue? They sure do flex, where they bolt to the firewall.

There's a thread here within the last few days for the same issue. Seems GM is aware and has a TSB but members were reporting that it was unsuccessful.

I was just thinking a lag in acceleration, could be pedal flex. Just wanted to point that out. Yeah I'm not thinking it would effect fuel economy.

There was a TSB out for multiple people having this issue. They updated the TCM and all is fine now, except one downshift seems a little clunky. MPG is back to normal, but I really don't understand why that would have been such a drastic change in MPG.
