Aftermarket wheel offset questions

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this has been posted. I just read through a few posts with similar info but got a few conflicting bits of info.

I currently have the factory 20's on my truck, and looking at aftermarket 20" wheels with a +25 offset. My front end is cranked less than 1" up, and the rear end is dropped 2" with drop shackles (thinking about switching it to only 1" drop).

Will the +25 offset stick out too far? I want a flush look with the wheel wells and not sticking out.

Any suggestions on meatiest tire I can fit on these wheels with my current ride height would be much appreciated!

If your new rims are 9" wide with a +25mm offset, then they'll stick out 1" farther than your stockers.

For tire sizes, 285/60/20 or 295/55/20 should work without any trouble. If you're willing to trim a little or pull back your fender liners, then 295/60/20 or 305/55/20 will probably work too. A 275/65/20 will also work, but those won't look nearly as beefy because they're narrow.

Thank you for the reply! I am seeing a lot more offerings in 275/60/20 than I am 285/60/20. Would these look considerably smaller? I just did the math and they look to be about a half inch shorter in height and width? Price is definitely more affordable. I couldn't find KO2s in the larger size. Any other brands to look at? I had the Duratrac or KO2 in mind.

Thanks again and sorry for so many questions! Truly appreciate the input!

With that offset i would do no less than a 35 x 12.50 20. Or at least a 295/60 20. I was very unhappy with how small my 275/65/20s looked on my stock wheels. 35s will require minor trimming of plastic up front but nothing visible from the exterior

Yes, your stock tires will fit on the new rims, but it wouldn't be worth the extra mounting & balancing costs to me. I'm sure you're getting anxious, but I'd just wait until I got my tires and do everything at once.

I don't agree with the advice of running a 35x12.50x20 tire. With your new rims sticking out 1" farther than stock, and your front end only being raised 1", I'm afraid you'd have to trim a lot to make them fit. A 295/60/20 is going to be close, and may even require you to trim or pull the fender liners back.

The 275/60/20 you mentioned is going to look small. That size comes stock on a Ram 1500. Plus, many of the tires in that size aren't E-rated, which is what you'll need for an HD.

My vote would be for the 295/60/20, and do what's necessary to make them fit.
