Headlight clarification question

Recommended Posts

I see many posts on LED and HID headlights. I'm not sure what I have on my 2016 SLT. The window sticker has an $500 option for high performance lighting. What is stock and what is included in this performance option. Thanks in advance.

Are the High Performance LED headlights available as a stand alone option on the Crew Cab SLT? The posts above seem to suggest they are, but when I try to build one on the GMC website it says I have to have the SLT Crew Cab Premium Plus package which costs $5,200. Wondering if this was a change for 2017 or can they really be added as stand alone option?

Also I can't say it enough but THANK YOU for all the great members and contributors on this site. I'm in the process of meticulously researching all the available configurations, options and pricing for a new Chevy/GMC truck and finally getting down to the final few decisions. Having a great forum like this is so incredibly helpfully and informational.

LEDs come with Silverado LTZ in 2017. I think it's the only way to get them. I'm guessing same with SLT.

That is correct (and also true for the High Country / Denali).

You can add them to the lower-trim trucks by buying the OEM ones from one of the upper-trim trucks and adding some custom wiring. Search these forums -- many people have already done it.

Mine is a loaded SLT, yet it does not have the full LED headlamps. To convert to the LED lights, a conversion harness and the headlamp assemblies are required:

T4L is the RPO code for the high-performance LED headlamps. They are included and only available for all Denalis, and in SLT's with the All Terrain Premium package, the All Terrain X package, SLT crew cab premium package. They are not available separately.

Why have I seen 2016 trucks around town without the LED DRL on? Or am I just crazy and just thought I saw this?

Did they have their turn signal on?

Due to DOT rules when the turn signals are blinking the white LED DRL's turn off.
