04 GMC 2500hd multiple issues

Recommended Posts

Once and awhile my truck reads out "reduced engine power" looked into it seems like throttle body is culprit but not sure diagnostic has multiple codes, one being maf sensor , EVAP leak, random multiple misfire, and knock sensor. Put new gas cap on no change still shows up tighten gas cap on dash also changed plugs and wires. Now I am having surging issues while driving at random times and once and awhile seems to slip out of 4th gear into neutral so I let off the gas it pops back into gear and is fine for alil while till it does it again. At first it JST did that when I was cold but now it seems to happen multiple times in a trip. Pulled off speed sensor on tcase which was full of trans fluid so I know that is bad but still did same thing. Im at a lose and need help its my daily driver and I travel for work. Also oil changes and fluid checks are done frequently as needed

If the tcase is overfilled, that likely means the transmission output seal has failed, and has pushed a bunch of transmission fluid into the tcase. Have you checked the fluid level in the transmission, when it's at the correct temp? This would explain why the transmission would slip in and out of gear... But, I would suggest also getting any codes the TCM is generating, which a basic ODBII reader can't read.

As for the engine codes, you have to start fixing stuff. GM recommends starting with the lowest numbered codes and working up.

And if you want more specific suggestions as to what to do, you need to post the specific codes the computer is generating.

As far as the tcase is concerned from what I've read and been told the seal on the sensor itself is bad and is allowing fluid to pass by the sensor to the plug and making a faulty ready as far as shift points in trans and wuld make my overdrive go haywire
