Fender Flare Question

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to ask the group if anyone is running fender flares on their Silverado (or Sierra) but running tires that are flush to the truck prior to adding the flares. I hope that makes sense. What I wanted to see is if it looks stupid or if you have to get wider tires. I am currently running 33" Duratracs that are flush to my truck. A friend of mine has fender flares but factory tires/wheels and it looks awful (he just hasn't bought bigger wheels/tires yet).

Anyways, just wanted your thoughts. If you guys have pictures too that would be helpful!

Thanks.

I think that would look silly - like those railroad work trucks with the narrow wheelbase.

That's kind of what I'm thinking too, but never know. I really need some pics if someone has this setup. I don't want to have to get new wheels... again... lol

I personally have never Iiked flares on a truck without the wider wheel and tire combination to match. For example my 2006 looked horrible to me with the stock flares and stock wheels. I added wider wheels with a different offset as soon as I could afford it.

  • 2 weeks later...

I added 1/4" wheel spacers to mine and it looked fine with the narrow factory style flares from bushwhacker.

A tip is to paint the flares color match. They don't appear to stick out as much and look much better in my opinion.

Here's pics of my old 6.2. Miss that girl, tons of power and sounded great straight from the factory.

Forgot to add... the bushwhacker "OE" style flares I bought had a 3/4" width extension from the fender, so they are favorable for stock offset wheels. I did add 1/4" spacers because I was afraid of the "railroad truck" look but believe it still would look ok without.
