A refinery worker in Texas phones in sick & gas prices in Ontario go up a nickel.

Every spring the price jumps when they switch to summer blend.

 

According to gas buddy, the average US price has gone up about 12 cents in the past 2 weeks.

 

I don't recall them using the excuse in the past though. The secondary excuse up here was to blame you folks in the US for driving more and increasing demand for gasoline.

 

Canucks blame the marketers for buying gas from the US, but guess what NIMBYs don't want refineries in Canada. I'm not sure how many have closed over the years, so a lot of our oil is shipped to the US for refining & then trucked back to Canada.

 

A refinery on either side of the border reduces production & the whole supply chain goes for a crap. Just wait until we hear the 'summer maintenance' line trotted out.
