Archaic2021
so..recently i was bless with buying back my old truck. A 2005 sierra slt. It was the last tuck my dad helped me with before he passed away....this was it then. He called it a behemoth at the time because he complaomed about climbing in. The mods list is/was. 6" rcx 5.3 tuned with full bolt ons, headers, intake, and full exhaust. 35" mud graps 16" beadlock rep wheels by procomp. I acquired the truck at a car lot that had it traded in. I noticed the feont axlw was missing, oil was low, pressure not great but it rand down the road good. so 3k later i brought it home. now the goal is first to make sire the motor can hang on until i get one built. So gave it fresh oil and a bottle of lucas. The motor runs good, no noises. The oil pressure is getting low sometimes but i bleive its eleteical. sometimes it will idle on 5psi but nothing is making noise. so step two is two get the 4wd working for cheap...this is where it gits greety. I put a new driver side axle in and went to test the 4wd. Made a horrible noise from the front. Hooray for carnage. i lucked and found a used front diff with same gears and oicked it up for 100 bucks. now i got it installed and well. the truck now feels like its in a bind in 4wd. On grave the truck grips weird and will actually come to a stop..give it a little throttle amd it will move bit the tires are fightning each other it seems. when i take it oit if 4wd i get a big shift..like when you come out of 4wd in a big hill or something. so im thinking since the service brake system is on it may have a different rear end under it. I ran out of day light yesterday bit going home tonight and pullinf it back in the shop amd pulling the rear cover off to see if the gears in the reae are different. right now is get the 4wd fixed in case i need to use it. build a mild 6.0 while i fix some other small issues, build a trans. get that in. them do a SAS swap. Buckshot556
Damn you are one handy guy. I spent the last 10 years working on my own Wrangler and plan on doing the same with my new Sierra, but never got into repairs as extensive as you've got. Good luck with your restoration. May it bring you closer to the memories of your father.

I pulled the rear cover off the rear end...it has 3.42 gears. so two options...the front end is wrong and the guy lied about knowing the gear ratio or something else is causing the issue...lets begin again. Archaic2021
So finally found time to work on the truck this week. Pulled the Front diff back out. Turns out it had 3.73 gears. Luckily I was able to use my old gears and got it put back together. Filled it with fluid and put it on the jack and test on the ground via plugging in the wirring harness and making sure it locked. Gonna put it in the truck tomorrow and test drive lol.
Archaic2021
So after fixing the 4wd and getting that put back together we are now here. We pulled the trans back and the oil pan off. The oil pan is leaking, rear main seal is leaking, rear cover is leaking and also i am replaced the oil pickup tube o-ring...This is gonna be my oil pressure problem I hope...it has gotten so brittle that it broke in half when I tried to remove it.
