2017 silverado 1500 ACTUAL mpg with AFM acitve?!

Recommended Posts

For the LTZ 5.3 vs 6.2...looking at the 4dr 6.5bed...the mpg it shows on the window seems a little low for using AFM...what are your actual numbers you get? We'll say without towing, and with if ya got it...say you just bought it and went on the freeway for a few hundred miles and AFM was on, theres no way to get 18-20mpg, is there?

19-20 is definitely doable unless you hit alot of headwind my 2010 5.3 6 spd with 3.73 did 19 all day long on 89 at 70-75 unless you hit strong headwinds so far my new 6.2 8.2 is better but it has 3.23 gears Ive seen 21 easily for miles on cruise with 91

When AFM kicks in it jumps up about 3 mpg but of course it dont stay in AFM forever but it does help with average I have only had my 6.2 a week so not enough time to see how ell afm works but in city it comes on alot more than my 5.3 did

Just did a beach trip earlier this week. 3.5 hrs each way. 50 mile totals were 21/25mpg. All different speed limits. 35 to 70.

5.3 with 3.08's and 4 people in the truck.

My wife and I couldn't believe it either. County roads and highway mixed driving. Slow speed ups and always on cruise control. The last 50 miles of our trip was 60+mph from the highway to our home. No wind, super warm temps, etc.

It's not like I can manipulate the readout....

Now that we are back driving around town, and rarely going over 35 it's down to 18.5.

You do this in all threads about MPG. Stop being a jealous little twit and calling people liars just because you can't achieve good gas milage. These high MPG's can be achieved by following the speed limit, using cruise control, and not driving like a bat out of hell. I commonly get 30 MPG in my truck and have posted it here. Your tired shtick is becoming annoying.

On a late model (post 2014) 6.2 with 8spd and 3.23 or 3.42 I would expect an overall average of over 20 mpg. If you are not getting 20+ mpg you need to reexamine your driving habits and check your truck to make sure there are not any issues.

Obviously it does much better on highway rather than city stop and go

Terrain also has alot to do with these numbers. Some people live in areas of the country that are largely flat. They will see considerably higher mpg than those of us that live in areas loaded with hills.
