Hoosier born and raised! Some info on my first year gmt800!

Recommended Posts

I own a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71! It just rolled over 185,000 miles and still running strong! I am getting ready to do some rust repair(I should say major rust repair) with in the next few weeks, and figured I'd finally join this forum after reading it for years! I may also do a build thread! Basically I'm putting on a new bed from "Texas" and replacing the rockers!(yes I am doing inner and outer rockers plus the cab corners)! The frame is in decent shape even for being in the salt belt besides one spot where the a/c condenser likes to drip. So I plan to clean the frame and por15 it after welding in a patch where it rusted through. I honestly should sell this truck and buy a new one but I was fortunate enough to be given this truck when I turned 16 (now 25 and only getting younger) and my old man bought it new in 99 so I Know the maintenance history!(my old man gave my two older sisters junky cars that I helped get running, to say the least I still hear it to this day from my sister's how I was given the nice truck hehe!) So I guess it has some sentimental value or something like that! Plus I'm a typical millennial who still lives with his parents and I don't want car payments. LOL!

I don't have a good photo of my truck, but you get the idea, also showing the new bed that will be getting a few dents fixed and a respray, probably end up respaying whole truck!ce6f5ad870184f18321c9cbd466a9faa.jpgdaf44b2c152a5d34faf6a50b21144e7c.jpg

Since you've been around awhile I guess a welcome isn't really appropriate but hey, welcome anyhow! I'd be down to see how your project goes, you have my sympathy on being a millennial who doesn't want a monthly payment. (Unfortunately I've got one but it's not terrible) :)
