Looking for opinions from 2017 6.2L 8 speed owners

Recommended Posts

So the story goes like this....

My 2015 6.2L 8 speed double cab has issues

Highway vibes

Tranny that shifts mostly like crap

And also lifter/pushrod failures.....it's currently in shop for the 2nd time with a lifter failure.

I'm not happy

I know of 3 6.2L trucks now that have had lifter issues.....let alone the other problems

So I get $150 over their cost for a new truck....thinking of another 6.2L(the 5.3L won't cut it)

This would save me thousands over going to a F150

They actually have a 6.2L crewcab on lot

I'm ready to be gone with my POS

But I'm very wary of the 6.2L having same issues

So all you 2016/2017 owners.....have your trucks been solid???

Only complaint is 1-2 shift is a hard shift 1st thing in the morning, after it does it the one time, it's good the rest of the day!

Sometimes I can feather the throttle 1st thing, and it won't do it.

No other problems, just over 7000 miles.

6.2 max tow crew cab with 8 speed 3.42 gears

Not what you asked about, but I went from a 15 DC 6.2 8 speed 3.23 to a 16 CC 6.5 ft 5.3 8 speed max tow. It seems to get the job done, but I miss the rumble of the 6.2 when starting it :) . Every time I fill it I look at the price for premium and am glad I no longer have to pay the extra.

over 9000mi on my '17

Only real issue was a connector in harness not fully seated. Caused occasional service 4wd light, also caused the 110v outlet to not function.

I replaced the good year ls2,s when new with michelins.

perfectly smooth on the highway, gets good mileage, trans is not perfect but i'm very happy

$150 over invoice, or the dealer' true cost after rebates, incentives, and hold backs? How is the trade offer on the 2015? I've been driving new 2017 DC Z71 5.3 six speeds for the last few weeks. They seem adequate for just zipping around. I did drive a 17 escalade today, so quiet and smooth. It almost felt like an electric car, but way slower. I'll bet you can feel every shift in the 1500 6.2 if they're anything like the 5.3. Either way, if you feel like your getting a good deal, then go for it!

Not sure what you are looking for but those are common K2 issues. You either get them fixed under warranty or GM buys it back and you try again.

It's funny here.....you say they are common issues then everybody else says they are not.

Guess it depends on your definition of common.

I specifically asked about 17s.....hoping these "issues" were somewhat alleviated.

1,000 miles today on my 2017 Max Tow 6.2L CCSB - Nothing but good to report......... Do I feel it shift at times - sure - but I even feel our 2015 Subaru Outback shift at times - and their CVT trannies are known for seamless shifting smoothness...........

2017 is a carry over year from 2016. Nothing new.

Dealer cost plus $150....true dealer cost or not I don't know.

My 15 6.2L windowed at 60k (Canadian) and from what I remember it dropped it 15k....

Supposed to get a trade in amount tomorrow.

My 6.2L has way worse shifting up and down than the rental 6 speed I'm driving

Had it at Ford dealership where Sales manager took it for a ride....when he came back he asked if that's how it always shifts

My 2017 6.2 tries to shake the wheel out of my hand at 60mph and if I take off slow, let off the gas and then back on, it feels like I let lose the tranny brake on a funny car. Blue tooth will not stay sync'd up with my phone. Every time I start the truck or go from radio back to device I have to resync. Navigation input is something out of 2005.

Even with all of that I actually like it.

I just turned 1k in my 17 6.2, less issues than my 16 5.3 so far. My 16 had 49k on it and had a loose seat and some weird bump in the dashboard. The bump almost looked like a fly landed on it while they were wrapping the leather on the dash. It developed a shake @ 70 around 25k that new brake rotors fixed. Also the 5.3 developed a little bit of a motor tick that annoyed me. All reasons that make me smile at my 6.2 everyday!

Yet your "common" issues don't seem to be popping up.

At least not yet

Opps my bad. You are right. These are brand new issue never seen before on a K2. GM should have no problem with a quick buy back for your purchase price. You should have no issues at all with your replacement truck.
