2017 f250 appears to be a joke

Recommended Posts

There is a tfl truck video on the 2017 f250 pulling a 12k trailer. They mentioned that while the conventional rating for the truck is 15k it is payload limited to less than 2k. So much for aluminum.

Payload/tow ratings notwithstanding, some of the comments I am reading on the Ford forums about the 2017 Super Duty have me wondering.......

I haven't read up on them much but I did see a 2017 F250 Limited 4x4 short box in my neighborhood with a typical holiday trailer yesterday, I'd guess 28-30ft, and it was sagging like a half ton.

Cab configuration, engine weight, vehicle weight in general are what limit hauling capability

Absolutely. I was going to order a 2017 SD in November but decide to go with the GM. The 2017 SD is very impressive to stand next to and the new 6.2 is a beast but I think GM makes the best 3/4 ton on the market. Ford SD 350 and up are probably the most versatile on the market but their 3/4 tons do not impress.

Really the only thing I like about the Fords is the solid front axle. And that they can fit 37x13.5" tires without touching the suspension. The trucks appear much bigger than our GM's but that's because the Ford has flat floors and they try to out macho GM and Dodge too.

Just wait till you need 4wd and see how the front solid axle works, they axle hop so bad you can't get into the throttle, just gets you more stuck, not to mention the death wobble...

Solid front axles are cool but GM HD IFS works perfect!

Axle hop I'm very familiar with. I own a '07 wrangler 2dr hahaha. I'm 26 and I love the rough unrefined ride of my wrangler. My truck however is light years more comfortable, especially on long road trips.

No doubt the gm rides smoother. My friends only complaint about his '17 f250 that he's mentioned is the rough ride (his last truck was '10 f150 which had ifs)

I'd have to take a Ford for a test drive to remember what a SFA handles like (sold my lifted '82 K15 back in '88) LOL
