Windshield wiper arm snapped off.

nrider

Question

Hi, So I had the passenger windshield wiper stop working on my Chevy Tahoe. I could still hear the wiper motor going but nothing was happening..no movement at all. So I popped the clip up at the bottom of the arm and when taking the arm off I realized that the piece the teeth in the arm clamp on to is stuck inside the arm. It has obviously snapped off as seen in the pics below. Looking inside the remaining piece (not sure the name) you can see a metal piece moving around in there when the wipers are turned on.

Can anyone tell me what the replacement parts are called which I need and how easy is it to install. I have removed the plastic grill and other parts before to access the wiper fluid lines which had gotten pinched at some point.

Anyways any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Yeah sorry about that forgot to put the year..its a 99 chevy tahoe. Anyways just found out the other part is called a the Windshield Wiper Transmission Linkage and I found a decent video on how to replace it on a tahoe.

So should only need that part and maybe a new arm if I can't get that snapped piece out of there.

I just call that piece the wiper arm spline - parts guys usually figure out what I'm talking about.

If you can't get the piece out of the arm, don't replace it with a Dorman part - better off going to a junkyard and snagging a used one.

^^^ Yeah not a bad idea. I forget this is his OWN vehicle - can do whatever wants. :)

Epoxy, Quicksteel, or tack-weld the thing back in there if you can. Whatever works, and is CHEAP!
