2017 2500 IO3 Upgrade to ?

Recommended Posts

Evening all,

I just got a 2017 Silverado 2500 WT. Unfortunately work did not realize that IO3 did not include Bluetooth, so I get a free pass on upgrading to hopefully whatever IO level includes bluetooth but not navigation. Not a fan of the IO3 and Ipod issues either.

Not a big fan of parrot as I had that in my last work truck and that thing was unreliable.

Any vendors out there that offer Factory upgrade kits? I found MVI and Infotainment(beyond stupid expensive) but didn't know if there were other options to consider.

I'm not against aftermarket but don't want to lose my factory back up camera, usb ports and steering wheel controls. Appreciate any input, I am new to the platform.

Thanks!

My understanding with my 2016 IO3 work truck is that there are a few aftermarket options that will let you keep the backup camera. There is some kind of data adapter module you need but chances are your local audio place can handle it. I'd have more info for you but I have not gotten around to replacing mine yet.

I wish there was a feasible option to upgrade with Facotry equipment to keep everything the way it should be but someone asking 2,500 for a kit is just ridiculous lol.

Looking like I will have to settle with a aftermarket option if my research doesn't show anything better.

yeah honestly i have been too busy to get mine replaced and also i wanted to keep my truck for awhile to make sure i don't have any electronic problems before i put anything aftermarket on it. sometimes my backup camera doesn't seem to work and if that is a problem i want to get it fixed under warranty, once i replace the radio chances are the dealer will blame it on the aftermarket stuff.

also, i read some of the aftermarket radios take a little while to boot up. i have a young child and another on the way, so i want the backup camera available ASAP after startup.

I will definitely let you know if I find any good factory or aftermarket options!

Out with io3 Added a Kenwood dnx 573s and aftermarket camera to my 2016. Now get my son to show me how to use it. Maybe should have went with mvi Gm upgrade but did not. Didn't have a camera to begin with.

Might be worth seeing if the guys upgrading to later model HMI/radios in this thread would sell you their leftovers and if can be programmed. I am on the fence about upgrading to HMI 2.5 as well for AA/carplay
