Strange sound from above driver head

I'm getting this weird noise intermittently. Just a humming-buzzing kind of sound. It's hard to tell exactly where its coming from but it sounds like it's above or behind me.I have this noise in my 2003 Chevy Avalanche 4x4 1500 WBH. Any help appreciated.

Could it be the climate control motor (overhead looks like a speaker) or ambient temperature sensor for your auto climate control, maybe this is the same item and some say there is a small fan in it. How does one change it and what is the part # for this item, is the fan just behind the item the looks like a small speaker and does it just pop out of the headliner?I don't want to go prying on things.

That's the temp sensor, and there is a fan in there like you said. They all get loud with age .. and of course, it's right near your left ear to drive you nuts!

Could try cleaning it, but I'd bet the motor is on it's way out.

Thanks a lot for the reply? Does it just pry out? I will probably order one. Some time it isn't audible but other times it is noisy and consent.

The grille does, but you have to remove a couple minor things and pull the headliner down a bit to access that assembly.
