Very pleased with my Ridgie. Went to it from a POS Shop Vac. I remember back in the 70s and 80s the Shop Vac brand was great but something happened and they seem to have turned to crap.

The ridged has great suction for the car, I use the other model from the one you linked it's reviewed well on auto detailing sites

then the hose kit http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-1-1-4-in-7-Piece-Premium-Car-Cleaning-Accessory-Kit-for-RIDGID-Wet-Dry-Vacs-VT2534/100638355

hose kit is overpriced for what it is but it works well.

but mine is dedicated to use on the cars. for house contruction, other stuff I use other ones I have sitting around. I don't like to mix them given how dirty with drywall , concrete, water, etc I load the others up, and these with small hoses are generally bit small for construction house stuff...easy to clog with that type of stuff.

Ridgid gets my vote - probably both made in the same factory in China anyway. Have a large rolling Ridgid for 25 years easy - change out the filter when needed. Used it quite a bit during my wood working phase.

This thread makes me want that compact unit though - LOL.........

I' have the 5 gallon Rigid the REELBUSY posted the link to. Concrete dust, drywall dust, insulation, dirt, water, it does it all. I used to have a larger Rigid but it tended to fall over when pulled by the hose. The 5 gallon stays upright no matter what I do to it, plus being smaller it's a lot lighter when full ! I've pulled it apart twice and washed it because it was packed with drywall dust and have not noticed any decrease in power. It will still pull with the filter completely packed in dust. I'll buy another one just like it if I find a way to destroy this one.

Ridgid 100%. I had to mail in my blower because it quit working. Cost me $17 to ship it in. They said it was defective and mailed me a brand new shop vac no questions asked. Even sent me another new filter. I'm a customer for life.

Own both, don't like the hose or suction power on the shop vac. Rigid seems to have much more power and better build quality. I recently was gifted a dewalt 20v cordless vac and it's awesome for cleaning out vehicles, small package with plenty of power and no cord to drag around. I do commercial concrete for a leaning which makes quite a mess and is by no means easy on tools including vacs.

There's a vacuum store in my town and I get all the attachments and I replace the hose with a stronger more flexible one so I'm pretty much just buying it for the unit itself iv never owned either one of them the one I had that just broke was a tall cylinder type it would always fall over it was ment to be hung on the wall

I don't use the wheels on mine as it's mounted to a car, but for the car the wheeled one is great because of the storage pocket. I store the brushes and crevice tool (from the kit) and car nozzle that came with the vac in the back and ditched the rest except for the hose from the kit. That way it's ready to grab and go (2 kids, sports, etc) no hunting for where I put the attachments, etc, etc.
