'05 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 grinding noise when brakes applied.

TammyDee

Question

My '05 truck has 36000 miles on it and it has recently started making grinding noises when my brakes are being applied. The brakes and rotors are fine, the wheels are fine, the bearings are fine, the ABS module and wire harnessing is fine. I'm thinking it's the sensor in the wheel bearing. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I put new brakes and pads in it...and checked the calipers. All is good. There seems to be something malfunctioning in the wheel bearing itself. The sensor in the wheel bearing that sends the signal to the ABS may be bad so may have to get a new wheel bearing to fix the problem.

It is hard to see the amount of wear on the inside pad unless you pull them completely off. Jack her up and pull the caliper so you can examine the pad. Most likely the inside pad is worn down.and you just cannot see it. I would pull the caliper and take a look ASAP
