Propane injected in front of throttle body

Recommended Posts

I hope this is the right section.

I recently purchased a 2005 Chevy truck with the 5.3 in it. It appears to have a propane injection kit on it.

The guys at the dealership didn't really know much about it, other than what the guy trading it in told them. Apparently he was on the road a lot, and he could boost his MPG to about 26 by injecting propane into the mix.

I have found surprisingly little usable info online. Apparently I can't find the proper search terms in the proper order.

Anyway, it has a 31.3 gallon tank in the bed of the truck. There appears to be a small regulator at the tank. Hoses that travel to under the hood on the passenger side. There is another regulator there, and then a rubber line that runs to brass elbow that penetrates the Volant cold air kit right in front of the throttle body.

There is also a knob just under the dash, but I don't know if that is part of this system or not.

I can take some pics later on and post them. I am just trying to find out more about this stuff, because I am wanting to use it if it will really help my mileage that much.

Any info or knowledge that could be provided would be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
