Random Panic Alarm

Recommended Posts

Over the past several months, I have been noticing upon startup that the dash has been display "Theft Attempted", now over the past 3 days, my alarm has been randomly going off as I walk away from the truck. Remote is in hand and is not being mashed so no chance of the panic button being it. Anyone have this happen to them? Pretty confused on whats going on here.

I've put a couple ground cables on for this concern. If you're mechanically inclined, you can perform a voltage drop test on it to verify otherwise, you'd be just throwing a part at it.

I have the same issue with my 2015 Yukon Denali. Been to 2 dealers who say they have never heard of the issue yet I have seen this problem in online forums over and over. I am frustrated because in fact this morning I was sitting in my home and the alarm randomly went off. I hit the unlock fob and it stops. It actually happened once when I visited the dealer and they offered no explanation or help. I wish someone could explain it. I'm close to getting rid of it

I’m having the same issue with my 2016 Sierra. The dash frequently displays “hood open” although firmly closed, as well as “theft attempted”. All Terrain... too many electronics for its own good. Time to go back to the basics.

Similar issue just happened to me on my 2016 Chevy Silverado.   Keys with fob hanging on a hook in the house, undisturbed.  Truck parked in the driveway.  The Panic Alarm went off twice within 20 minutes.  The first time it seemed to 'time out' before I could get to the fob.   The second time, I hit the fob panic button to cancel, but that did not seem to work.   Hitting the Unlock button on the fob cancelled the Alarm.   No 'Theft Attempted' or other warnings displayed.

Welcome to the site.

May want to change the batteries in your fob. Coming up on 5 years old if you have not changed it.

Any update OP?

Welcome to the site.

You might want to direct quote the original OP, or start a new thread. You are asking for a response from a 3 plus year old post.

Any details you can share about your truck would help too.
