2007 Suburban.. no option for Rear parking assist, yet DIC shows its t

Recommended Posts

i just purchased used Suburban. When i start the car the DIC shows the rear parking assist is turned off.. I have to hit the little check mark to get that message off..this happens everytime i start the car.. Problem is, i dont believe this suburban has this feature.. There is no navigation display radio, and there are no sensors on the rear bumper.. Also there is no parking display thingy by the rear window... Any idea why i get this message everytime i start the car? anyway to stop this from happening? any Ideas? Thank you

If you have 4 sensors in your rear bumper, you have parking assist. There should be a button between the 2 12v outlets in the center stack with a P and some vertical lines. The parking brake being applied or a fault in the system can cause the message also.

I dont have any sensors on the rear bumper. and also there is no button on the center dash.. there is nothing with a park assist.

Have it scanned by a dealer and see if there are any codes for park assist. I'm wondering though, if someone swapped an instrument cluster at some point with a used one from a truck that had park assist.

its funny you say this, because i found out after my purchase, that the previous owner had to replace the cluster because it fried...maybe this is what happened... probably no way to stop that from coming on.. I even tried to pull out the fuse...still comes on every time i start car... no biggie

You'll likely have to bring it in to a dealer to have the option turned off in the BCM/PCM. It's highly probable that this can only be done by a proprietary GM Tech2 scanner. Don't be surprised if the dealer charges you 1 hour shop labour even though it'll take 5 minutes or less. That is their minimum shop charge so try to fit this in with some other work you might need done.
