Can you approximate trans wear via the computer?

On these modern vehicles, can you read the parameters from the computer and approximate transmission wear or remaining life?

 

I had a guy tell me that he could tell my trans (6L90e) was about 60% based on parameters read from the computer, and told me I had about 40k miles left...which based on what I have read here, the maintenance I have done, and the use its seen; I'm not buying it.
