09 tahoe hvac problems

i have a 2009 chevy tahoe and the hvac is funky, i only get hot air coming out of the drivers side, no cold air and the selector doesnt work and blows out every vent no matter which position you select. any help woulkd be appreciated

Seems to me you have a temp door actuator that doesnt work on the drivers side and a mode door actuator that isn't changing the air flow within the box. From most common to least common....the actuators are normally the culprit. Rarely will you get an HVAC control module that causes this. It does happen, but not as common as the actuators. Especially once you get some years on the vehicle. The plastic inside he actuator gets brittle and the gears end up breaking inside of it.

whats the process to check the actuators? just simply pull them off and see if they are moving...

You definitely don't want to pull them off and leave the connector plugged in. No way to really check them unless you know how to troubleshoot the circuitry that leads to them to try and narrow it down. You can remove them and open it up to check the plastic gears in them. Being that it's a 2009, my money is on the actuators.
