New Used in WNC

Recommended Posts

Hello all ,

Just bought a 2015 Silverado 1500 LT 'All Star' with a 5.3L 4X4 in 'Tungsten Metallic' .

I was in the market for a used truck because I couldn't bring myself spending 40K+ for new .

Drove all 5 manufacturers . Liked some features from them all , but the Chevy had hands down the most

comfortable and quiet ride , and it just felt familiar since I've been driving an '02 Impala for 13 years .

Now I'm going to add a few things like a Leer or Undercover tonneau cover , some running boards , getting the insert bedliner replaced with a Rhinoliner spray liner , rear wheel well inserts , and Weathertech mud flaps and floor mats . Maybe some subtle LED lighting on the running boards .

Mechanically I'm going the add a catch can , and after what's left of the warranty expires , a cold air intake , and adding a second battery (since I'm going to either buy or make my own 'tonneau tent' and do some camping with the wife) .

I'm considering either a Borla touring or Flowmaster 'American Thunder' cat back system as well once the warranty expires . I'm not looking to ruin fuel economy just to make modest gains in HP , so I'm not sure I want a programmer

or not yet . Truck runs pretty strong as it is . I'd be interested in input from anyone who has done this .

That's a start I think . If anyone has any input on my plans by all means let me know .

Greetings from WNC , 'Gots'

Thanks guys .

I went with the Undercover Elite LX . Checked them out and the Leer seemed too heavy for my wife to help remove .

I've got some Ionic running boards and Weathertech mats and flaps , along with window vents and bug deflector coming . Going to be busy for a couple nights :fingersx:

I'm gathering the things to make it 'mine' .

So far , I've got running boards , a McNally catch can , Weathertech floor mats , vent shades , bug deflector , and mudflaps . Rhinolinered . Rough Country Bull Bar and a LED light bar . Seat covers , a dash cover and a tonneau cover from Undercover that was supposed to be installed today . I waited three weeks to get it because it had to be painted to match the truck . I arrived at the shop , and some brain dead guy in his Ford F250 drove over it :nopity: Now I have to wait another three weeks . LMAO .

When I get it completed I'll post another pick . In the meantime thanks for the welcome .

A few things that have been accomplished ..

HID lights . The Morimotos are light years better than stock halogens . I had an issue with one of the igniters melting , but the guys at theretrofitsource sent me another immediately . Found out a lot about the nose assembly of the truck with that install .

Added a second battery with 200amp smart isolator with a distribution box that has it's own battery switch and voltmeter for all the accessories I've added and for future ones . The box holds a fuse block , a shunt for power management meter , and a resettable breaker . I have since added an Anderson connector for a 1500 watt inverter/jumper cables , and the parallel switch for the isolator .

We took the truck for a week in Ocracoke NC (We love this place) and it ran great on the beach in 4WD .
