6.6 Duramax exhaust mid pipe on 6.0 Vortec?

Recommended Posts

I am going to a 4" inlet muffler on my 6.0. The mid pipe has a fair amount of buildup on it so I was thinking I may as well have it replaced at the same time. The shop that will be doing the work is planning on going from the 3.5" mid pipe to the 4" muffler with an adapter but I am curious if anyone knows if the mid pipe from the 6.6 Duramax (between the muffler and the Y pipe) will bolt up to the flange after the cat Y pipe on a 6.0.

If it does, I figure I will jut buy a mid pipe with the flange so they can just extend it rather than charging me for additional cutting and welding for the stock flange and adapter.

Are you talking like an older Dmax like 2001-2004? Those are a 4 bolt square flange where the gas trucks are the two bolt diamond/oval flange, so it wouldn't "bolt right up."

The factory setup on an 01-04 dmax is a pipe from the turbo downpipe that flanges after a couple feet and then the muffler end is all one piece from the flange to the muffler to the tailpipe.

Not the best image but the one in this link: http://www.thedieselpage.com/reviews/magnaflow006c.jpg the dirty system in the back is the factory system.

LBZ trucks are clamped pre and post cat no flanges. The front pipe has a cat in it. LMM and LML are flanged but the back side is to the DPF and the front side has the DOC in it.
