Can a TBI vapor lock?

Recommended Posts

Im experiencing what seems to be vapor lock on my 94' yukon 350. It only happens when i try to start it after it has heated up a lot, during which time, it sputters and dies. It runs fine after holding a rev(around 2500 rpm) for 20-30 seconds. This is exactly what a carb filled with boiling gas does, until you burn all the hot fuel. When it does it really bad, i can hear hissing from the gas cap, which is a new gas cap. This is my first fuel injected truck, so im not sure how the fuel system works on this, but i would assume that its a clogged line going to the vapor canister, or possibly a bad fuel pump. Any thoughts or experience on this would be a great help. Thank you.

before opening this post, goin by title..

I thought "he's got a 350."

that was the biggest culprit.. and the 454.

just run through the normal gas chores, you'll find stuff.

It is also old enough to think gas lines are good, but may have burly elements closing them in.

that is actually a to do list now on the 96-99... and they are at 55psi.

brake lines do the same thing..

anyway,

the tbi is 15psi or so.

Everything has got to be good.

So i finally had time to work on the truck, I ordered a fuel pressure adapter fitting from these guys http://rvmorsemachine.com/product.htm, installed it and Im running 9-10.5 psi, I believe It should be more around 12psi. I also noticed the purge line going to the vapor canister is glued on, im thinking it might be clogged causing the vapor lock. If the rain lets up ill stick the new one on.
