Smoke coming from transmission dipstick

Recommended Posts

I checked the transmission fluid when I got home from work today. I checked it at idle while in park and the fluid level was perfect. However I noticed a little smoke, kind of like a haze coming out from where the dipstick goes in. I never noticed this before.. Is this normal on these trucks? Should I be concerned?

Half lit cigarette or clam baked teenagers? I'm going to lean towards very minor and probably just condensation boiling off.

More like a half lit cigarette. Probably condensation. Figured I would get y'alls input just to be sure. Don't care to chance it if there may be something wrong going on involving the transmission.

More important is the condition of the fluid......light red/pink and slightly sweet smell - OK..............dark amber with burnt smell - not OK.

Or place a drop or two on a white paper towel and let the oil wick outward onto the paper.....no dark center spot - OK.............dark/black center spot - not OK, something is burning up.
