Is my 2017 Flex Fuel?

Recommended Posts

I know the simple way to find out if you have e85 capability on the 2014-2016 was to just look at the gas cap. Now the 2017 is capless and I can't find an answer anywhere.

Where on the truck would the ethanol content sensor be mounted?

If you can't easily tell, it probably isn't. Stop by the dealer and ask them to punch in your vin and look.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Dealership guys said it was when I bought it, but they didn't seem like they had a clue.

If I get curious enough I'll check with a different dealer.

Look on the lower corner of your driver's door window there is a sticker that says FLEXFUEL if its compatible. Or, check your glovebox RPO label (SPID label) and look for the following RPO code:

FHO: Vehicle Fuel Gasoline E10 (NOT a FlexFuel Truck)

FHS: Vehicle Fuel Gasoline E85 (FlexFuel Truck)

i believe the code is LC9 in the glovebox

That was the RPO code for the all aluminum 5.3 engine in the GMT-900 trucks 2007-2013.

If there is no name brand high volume stations offering E85 then I would avoid it. E85 stations are few and far between in Oregon..........

We actually have a really good local station and we all run our evos on it. Their e85 almost always tests higher than 85% (usually 87-89)

Was trying to find an imagine but if your truck is flex fuel the ring on the capless system is painted yellow.

Not on these trucks, Just a yellow sticker that says E85

Thanks for the info. I could have sworn the dealer I got my 2017 from had one with the ring painted yellow.

I really thought that's how it was going to be. I was really surprised when my truck came in and just had the sticker.
