Spare tire only a bed mount?

Thinking of a ZR2 to replace my wife's Tahoe but the bed mounted spare would be a deal breaker. I would need the room in the mini bed plus it looks to interfere with a hard folding bed cover....tire too big to fit in the rear under the bed?

if you look on Chevy's website: https://www.chevrolet.com/colorado-zr2-off-road-truck#

under Functional Design, it says: "Available full-size bed-mounted spare tire carrier"

which I would think means you can choose to have a donut under the bed OR the monstrosity taking up your whole mini bed. It would be pretty impractical to sell a truck where the bed is unusable.

Spare is mounted under the bed standard. The bed mount is an accessory that can be ordered either when the truck is ordered or after the fact. It is not standard equipment. The ZR2 comes with an open box.
