Building 5.3 Ecotec3??

Recommended Posts

So my buddies 2014 ecotech3 shot a rod and put a whole in the block. and he found a used one with 80k miles for a decent price and i told him we should rebuild the entire thing and beef it up (he does have the prerunner fenders, skid plate etc.) so all that's left is to have a fmf under the hood. but i can't find parts for it to save my life, i can't even find a cam for it? summit doesn't have anything for this engine except tuners and a few exhausts which surprised me! does anyone know where we can get parts for it, performance anyways. any help would be great, thanks!

Have you considered throwing in a 6.2?

I mean they have forged crank/rods stock. So it's kinda like an already bored and built 5.3. Regardless if you have the 6 speed or 8 speed trans, the 6.2 has been offered with both.

Gonna have to dig a little dealer than that. There are quite a few aftermarket parts for these motors. Best bet is to look at the c7 Vette forums these and the 6.2 are prettysimilar.

Well they have different displacement, so I doubt the short block parts are going to be compatible.

Quite the opposite actually. All you need to do is tune, they are mechanically interchangeable from a longblock perspective (ok well the intake manifold and Throttle body is different, but that should come with the donor 6.2)

He has a 5.3

i'm well aware the l86 and lt1 are the same, the 5.3 is a different displacement, so either the bore or the stroke is different, making the shortblock components not interchangeable.

Oh you said short block parts, as in rods pistons etc, I didn't see the "parts" word and thought you meant the entire short block.
