Exhaust pipe discoloration before muffler normal?

I have a 2014 GMC Sierra, 5.3. I was under the truck today trying to pin point a rattle and noticed extreme exhaust pipe discoloration between the inlet pipe of the muffler, and outlet going towards the resonator. The pipe on the inlet side, going up towards the engine has had high heat and has a dark gold tint, on the outlet side of the muffler its silver. Is this normal, or should I be expecting a meltdown soon?

Sorry, Not sure if you mean resonator or the cat. Resonator is out by the axle. From exhaust back (towards the cats/engine) that golden brown colour is normal
