So, lately I've been noticing my truck (2015 Silverado 1500 5.3L V8 Crew Cab) has been sluggish while accelerating. Not all the time; it is intermittent. Could be from a stop or from a crawl usually. I'll hit the gas and I'll feel like a hesitation and no "oomph" and then it feels like the engine seems to lurch/stagger and then I'll get the regular acceleration and then it seems to be a non-issue.

 

Any thoughts would it could be? Truck just rolled into 50,000 kms and I've got a CAI and Borla exhaust - if it matters.

My '16 does the same thing. Once the engine gets around 2,500 rpm the stumble/stutter goes away. Way to go GM, make a $50k truck run like a $500 jalopy with a cracked distributor cap on a rainy day. I'm ready for the day the warranty is up so I can get a proper tune.

I want to tune mine too; waiting for the same reason. No point in throwing out the warranty by doing a tune early. I drive my dad's 2012 Silverado and it doesn't seem to have this issue...

Jack Nicholson said "You can't handle the truth" The truth is that the torque management system is keeping you from roasting the rear tires at every takeoff and twisting the driveshaft plus grenading the transmission. At least until the factory warranty is out. Thanks Jack loved the redrum movie man.

LOL - Just how much takeoff gas pedal R these guys throwing at it in everyday "normal" driving...........

I wouldn't say I'm driving aggressive at all, yet I can still feel a significant difference between my truck and my dad's older Silverado which doesn't have this issue.

I have a 2016 Chevy Z71 with the 5.3. I added the Airaid MIT with the air filter. I disconnected the battery and reset the computer and have been running the truck now for almost a year. Just seems like a lot of the time that the transmission shifts wrong and is to high in gear. Really no get up and go. Anyone else have this issue?

The trucks throughout GM's history have the absolute highest warranty claims submitted. Is there lots that is legitimate, sure! Is there lots that are abuse, absolutely!

 

So, of course the older trucks don't feel this way because they aren't made to feel this way. The 14+ have the torque management software. GM is trying to reduce warranty cost with this addition. It is normal practice for any manufacturer to do so. Reducing cost, more in their pocket. Does it suck? Sure it does. Is there much we can do about it? Not unless you get it tuned. This problem is bigger than any dealership or even this forum. I suggest people get on the phone with GM headquarters and complain. Don't call the GM customer service line, they don't even work for GM. They are Hewlett-Packard employees that just take calls and read from a script, that also saves money for GM. Now, me personally, I love my truck and really don't let the torque management bother me. If it's that bad for you, go try another brand and see if you like it better. Can you imagine if any manufacturer took every single persons opinion into account before a product was launched. Nothing would ever hit the public. Mass produced vehicles will have their faults. Personally I think GM is one of the better ones when it comes to recalls and service bulletins and keeping customers in the loop about changes.

A little dirt, paint strip in the road, moisture and an empty bed and if you don't have posi ..... lots of HP to get to the ground and TM. If you tune it out you be amazed how these trucks perform.

Paint stick trick will fix the sluggishness, I promise worked for me and may others

I have the adjustable pedals, so pretty sure that won't work for me. I also didn't feel the flex in the pedal either.
