05 escalade 1000-1500 rpm noise HeLp!!

Question

Hope this is the right place for this question..

I have an 2005 escalade. Recently I noticed a sound coming from engine/under the vehicle when I go from coasting between 10-20 mph s and then give it some gas so the rpms go between 1000-1500. As soon as the rpms get in that range I hear what sounds like a rocks shaking in a can. Any suggestions? I have taken it to two mechanics. Thank you.

You need to see if you can isolate the noise somehow to determine if it is internal or external to the engine.

South Main auto has a pretty good video on how to do that and look for noises / bad pulleys.

It's tough to determine without being there...but my 2000 Silverado was making a noise that turned out to be a bad pulley.

Thanks for the reply. Yes it does. If I am coasting and hit the gas between 10-20 mph and the rpms are in between 1000-1500 I heard the rattle and then it isn't there. It usually happens once the truck has warmed up as well. So I do not hear it at first.

That doesn't sound like a pulley. It sounds like something is hitting something else.

Have you looked at the engine / engine bay while someone is getting on the accelerator pedal?

See if something is fouling on another part.

Hard to tell from the video if it is internal or external to the engine.
