2017 Denali HD Tow Mirror Question

Recommended Posts

Looked in the manual and didn't see the answer, What are the two sensors at the outside edge of my Tow Mirrors. The mirrors are power tilt and folding heated mirrors on my 2017 Sierra Denali HD Duramax. Thanks.

** The profile pic is not the truck in question, I traded it in last week : )

Yes, that's what they are. Guess I was hoping it was a blind spot or reverse camera showing the side of the truck, lol.

Thanks for the quick answer......Love this site!!

Yes, I saw those while I was trying to figure out what they were. It's what made me think just maybe they were cameras. Trucks sure have come a long way in the last 20, wow!

There is a easy write up on another forum how you can use a jumper and have them come on with your reverse lights. Super easy and somewhat useful

What forum is that? I'd like to do this to mine. Turning on the cargo light blinds me when plowing so the LEDs don't help much.

I find that I don't always want them to come on when reversing.

The factory setup, connected to the cargo switch, means turning them on is optional.

They are nice when backing up a trailer.

I suppose. But the cargo light being on means you can't see anything when looking through the rear window. Consequently I find myself just not using them because I can see better with no lights than I can with the lights and cargo light on.

I find that (especially when pulling an enclosed trailer) I use the tow mirrors all the time.

When not trailering it's the mirrors or the rear camera.

Tailgate is restricts visibility enough that I never use the rear window.

Yep. Well for plowing I still like using the back window some. Someone can be hiding behind you, the camera is usually snowed in, and sometimes the mirrors are frozen and don't work very well. The convex piece isn't heated so after a while water runs down onto it and refreezes from the upper mirror.
