remote door locks?

Recommended Posts

I was reading the mid year 96 changes on the 96.. that some could call half a 97.

anyway, I was hesitant to ask but...

I locked my doors, went into a busy store, busy parking lot...

both doors were unlocked when I came back out.

when these 200 pound doors lock, the orange on the tabs disappear, with a big clunk.

I look every time I press the button.

I had wondered about the remote feature for the 96.. it was very new.

what are the odds of someone hitting their remote and unlocking my doors? :)

Do I check on this stuff, like getting a key remade at the dealer? can they look up my VIN and tell me?

I did not know I had daytime running lights either, until I found the slightly different box.. usually in later trucks.

my 1996 is a 5/96 (may 96)

is there anything else someone may have learned about my inbetween year truck?

Not sure about all of that but I have a buddy with a 2004 or so chevy work van and he can use his key to open my 98 Yukon. He pranks some other employees. Just an FYI

that is not all that funny.

I am going to go for the 97 version.

the DRL circuit, and something the alternator does.. some clues.

5/96 is late model year build.. last month to be called a 1996?

keyless entry

I am going to go for the left one.
I already learned how to program it.

The previous owner mentioned nothing but all his drivetrain work (he is a GM mechanic)

I learned the DRL on my own..and the extra on the alternator.

Not trying to be funny, just letting you know about OBS keys. Not positive but I don't see how anything below 99 came with any other keyfob than the one on the left. If u do t want ur DRL's you can pull a fuse also. Check GMT400 a lot more info on there for OBS GMC/Chevy's

I was enthused about the electrical. I even keep factory plugins for changes.

the 96 -99 was abig leap to be proud of. I am kinda old.. and still love it to death.

I have DRL running on my own diode..needs no heatsink on LED headlamps.

I also drive amanual, so the brake gets set a lot.

between the brake light and the DRL light in the dash, I know never to leave brake engaged.

Thanks for the tip on the key remote.. I bet it works first try, after programming.

got the remote, and found I am supposed to have the rpo code AU0.. and i don't.

this truck does not have remote locks.

the thought a wireless event happened, was finding the doors unlocked after locking them..

but that is a problem elsewhere. My truck has no wireless.

another gadget for the parts drawer.

:)

I guess not all of these had remote locks. was not sure. I only found the RPO code lookup today.

I have AU3, side door locks.
