Just an Observation.......

Recommended Posts

I had a 2004 Silverado 2500 (nonHD) for many years until the rust worm started to show it's ugly face. Had the 6.0, 300 horse. Bit the bullet and purchased a 2016 2500 HD for the additional HP for towing. The old truck had seats that felt like a favorite sofa, had a firm but very comfortable ride and towed my crap but really needed more HP. Wasn't 16 feet tall so I could actually work in the engine compartment and wash the roof by hand. My new truck has the HP I needed but the ride quality is poor even with tire pressure set at 50 unloaded, the seats are hard as a rock, can't wash without a ladder and forget about working under the hood without a lift creeper. My opinion.......new doesn't necessarily mean better.......2016 Chevy.......MEH.......Other brands offer the same so not a slam on Chevy per se.........

I hear 'ya.

Can't check the oil without getting my jacket dirty on the grill or the trans fluid without scratching the sh*t out of the paint on the fender.

I'm 5-10. Average.

To check the oil on my former work truck F350 I had to climb on the front bumper.

Don't understand why they can't extend the tube for the dip sticks a couple of inches so that an average height person like me can reach it.

It's really important tha the truck sit two feet off the ground because looking tough is more importand the functionallity. Wait, does that stance actually look tough? Not so much. IMHO. :nopity:

Game of Thrones is back on tonight and they have tools in that series that can stretch you and make you taller (The Rack) that should easily solve all you problems.......

You certainly would no longer be concerned about that cilly truck!!

Or, you're just tall enough. :)

I can think of only two new vehicles in the last 30 years that I've owned that used oil, even tow vehicles. Those still would've been fine till oil changes. So if you must check them you can wait till you have work duds on. Half the vehicles I have now don't have transmission sticks anymore. I read in one of my manuals GM I thought had a low oil light for around a qt low.

I think a lot of this bigger and higher is because Ford and Rams have been that way for years. Since everybody seems to wamt what the other guy has this is what we have now. GM has always been a bit shorter and they have a following because that is what some people like. The Ford and Ram 1/2 tons are about the same height as the GM 3/4 ton trucks. Try checking oil in their 3/4 ton trucks! Just another little reason why I prefer GM. I'm 6' and can reach the dip and tranny sticks but not a chance on the Ford or Rams.

I agree, I have had 7 new trucks since I bought my 2000 GMC, everytime I tell my wife I am going to sell the old truck as it doesn't get used and I don't need it. Everytime a new truck gets sent down the road and yet my old 2000 GMC is still here...

I have a similar situation with a 92 I have. Every time I think about selling I get heartburn. Every thing else two years out of here!
