6.2 exhaust (sub 600)

Recommended Posts

Looking to spend under 600 for an exhaust . I had a Slp on my 5.3 Silverado, and now am looking at the Slp for the 6.2.

However I heard the mbrp might be quieter for the same price. I liked the Slp, but would like something a tad quieter with a kid on the way.

Anyone running the mbrp can tell me the sound level? Or even better, have direct comparison between the two?

Thanks!

Not able to give a comparison but sounds like a Magnaflow 12909 would be to your liking. Had my muffler and the flapper valve cutoff and replaced with it and am pleased. Slightly louder but much deeper than stock. Best part with labor and Advance Auto 20% coupon it was right at $155-160. Save your money for other mods tint, tires, etc...

Flowmaster linked in my sig - love it from start-up to shut-down every day. Manually compression braking down shifting a kick too when you can actually HEAR the exhaust!

Last night coming home down a steep grade shifted down to 3,000 RPM+.... Music to the ears - easy on the brakes........

I would agree! Corsa sounds excellent, but is also over a grand and is fairly aggressive, maybe too much for some.

While I like Corsa, I've ran and installed a lot of others for people, and I can't really justify spending 1200 dollars for an exhaust anymore. Especially with out scrap metal prices being so low. I feel like they make about 800 dollars profit.

I like the 12909 idea, but am worried it would be too quiet. I like the mbrp for 440 on autoanything.com right now.... But I'm worried about it being too loud. My Slp was great on the 5.3, and I heard the mbrp is quieter then the Slp.... But with an extra liter displacement, who knows.

All I know is with a newborn and car rides, I can't have a lot of interior noise and drone to give me a crying kid! Lol

Maybe I'll just have to bite the bullet and order the mbrp and just swap it out if its too loud.

If the 12909 is not enough racket just have them remove the rear resonator and replace with a piece of straight pipe.

Just don't throw away or leave resonator with the shop if its too much racket and want to put it back.

Still way less coin than other offerings.

Yeah with a baby on the way, it may be too loud especially at cold startup and WOT....I considered the touring too, but was afraid of not much change for a lot of money. Many people seem to really like the borla s type, but again over a grand.I always wished corsa had something between touring and sport that would be perfect. I personally never liked the mbrp on these trucks, just to raspy for me. a lot of people also seem to like magnaflow because they're cheaper and nice low rumble...again a little too quiet for me though.

Well I took the plunge and ordered the mbrp. 430 shipped is hard to beat for a full exhaust.

I shall be the Guinea pig!

I figured if it's too loud it'll be easier to take off and and sell and add a muffler to the stock system, rather than hacking up the stock system to start.

Keep us updated. I'm toying with doing something similar it the same. Thing is that I just want the rumble but not anything loud. I may throw a Flowmaster on but if I can get a cat back and not cut the stock system up that would be good.

Just listened to a bunch of sound clips on YouTube of the MBRP on the 6.2 and I'm impressed! Not raspy or poppy at all. Sounds very much like the Flowmaster I had on my 2011. I'm going to do some more research but they seem to have designed it for the AFM.
