Rugged step bars????

Looking for advice/opinions on some rugged step bars. I've gone through two sets of GoRhino Dominator II with no luck at all. They did warranty the first set, polished black, after they were rusting out within a year. The second set, in textured black, is rusting out and looks horrible. The new set is barely a year old. I'm in Michigan so I deal with gravel roads daily and salt in the winter. Any bullet proof steps out there with the look of the GoRhino Dominator???

I haven't had them very long, but I've only heard good things about the longevity of the ICI Magnum RT Steps. First impression is they are very sturdy, not a bit of flex at all. You could also line-x a set of step bars and that should make them hold up much better. That stuff is virtually bullet proof.

I have the GM nerf bars on my truck (see link in my signature). Absolutely love them, factory mount, and get lots of complements on them. Also, the steps are a bit bigger than most nerf bars so it's not awkward to get in and out of the truck like others.

OEM steps and mud flaps. Mud flaps on the front keeps the gravel from chipping off the paint on the tubes and kicked up slush off the treadles.

I've had them on 3-4 trucks, always considered them more of a PITA than anything. I'm 6'4" so I'm not going to step up on the steps, then duck down into the truck. Stepping out out over them in the winter has about killed me a few times, because I had to step out not down and had less traction. Then there's the mud and ice they collect.

 

I've had most of the truckin' features at one point or another, but that is the one that I've never liked at all. The rest all had pros/cons.

I'm 6' 2" and now that my truck is lifted 6" on 35's I use mine every single time. When it was only leveled I never used them and now regret it because my seat bolster is flattened out now

I actually use the steps now but have had steps on my trucks long before I needed them. They are helpful for your short, young or senior passengers!

I had the chrome OEM running boards on my truck and removed them when I ordered my new black nerf bars, so I was a few weeks with nothing. Even on a levelled truck with 33" tires, it was a PITA to get in and out (probably since I was used to the running boards), and quickly realized what I could be doing to my seat. Even on a stock truck I would still use them to prevent this. And like Donstar stated, helps passengers get in and out.

I bought a new one in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017, and the longest I ever keep them is three years. I they can't handle three years of me hopping in and out, I should be trying some other brands. :-|
