Bowtie Billy Hill
Ok...so I just picked up a new '17 last week. A few days after I brought it home, I noticed that the cab sticks out about 3/4 of an inch beyond the bed on the passenger side. It's flush on the driver's side. This is irritating me to no end. I initially thought the bed was crooked, but after looking more closely, it appears that it's actually the cab that is mounted slightly out of alignment. I have an appointment with the body shop that the dealer uses this week to attempt to straighten it out. I'm a little concerned that unbolting the cab may cause different problems. Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Dnt
DO WHAT NOW???? Man we got to have pics of this............................. Are you 100% sure this is not a optical illusion?
Bowtie Billy Hill
Oh yeah...it's no illusion. Something is definitely not lined up right. I'm not sure WHAT they'll do. Hence me reaching out for opinions. Lol
Donstar
This sounds bizarre. I would be more inclined to look for a refund rather than a repair. I can't imagine this truck leaving the factory this way.
Bowtie Billy Hill
I'll grab some pics in a little bit. It's definitely bizarre. Is everybody else's bed and body lined up near perfect?
SouthernSilveradoGuy85
Seems like most people with the problem has the bed out of line, not the cab. I think what's hard to believe is how much you said it's off. Did you actually measure it and get 3/4" off or is it just a guess that could be off? I can only imagine that if the cab if off that much (roughly) that a lot of other things would be out of line or not even be able to be right. So I'm thinking it's the bed and not the cab. I do remember my '98 being off (just by eye looking at the gab between the cab and bed), but I always thought it was from all the thing I did with it. My buddy had an '06 GMC that was also off. He has an '11 now and haven't thought to look. Don't think my '14 was off though. Edited July 23, 2017 by SouthernSilveradoGuy85
Bowtie Billy Hill
It appears to be more than a half inch. I didn't measure it yet, but I will. It has to be close to 3/4 of an inch. Also, looking down the driver side from the front, it appears that the bed is straight, but the cab is slightly turned off center. My rear bumper is perfectly straight, and in line with the bed, which also leads me to believe it's the cab that's turned.
SouthernSilveradoGuy85
I would get under the truck and measure from the frame to body parts to see which is out of line.
dorkweed
If you see it only on 1 side and not the other...............something is terribly wrong. 1/2inch on drivers sider should be same on passenger side.
Bowtie Billy Hill
Yep. That's what I'm thinking, too. Drives straight as an arrow down the road, though, and it only had 7 miles on it when I got it. There doesn't appear to be any evidence of trauma to the truck...just an offset bed and cab. I have to figure out how to post pics on here. Lol
Boardmember
I had a mal-aligned bed. They corrected some but not much. Definitely the bed though.
NWI Denali
I had a mal-aligned bed. They corrected some but not much. Definitely the bed though.^this. Most likely the bed alignment. Highly unlikely the cab.
truckguy82
3/4" is a huge amount to be off in a world where gaps are measured in MM, especially in a brand new vehicle Edited July 24, 2017 by truckguy82
Bowtie Billy Hill
I'm going to take a pic with a tape measure in the morning when it's light enough. This is going to sound like a total rookie question...but how do I post a pic in this thread?
cbrsilv15
I would have taken my brand new truck back to the dealer for a readjustment before I posted anything online. Just saying. Lol.
