FixitNick
Picked up a project truck. Was looking around at insurance auctions and saw this thing. 2017 Silverado Z71 with 700 miles. It was in San Diego with AZ title, thats usually a bit fishy but it seemed like a good risk to take. Seems like someone bought this new in AZ and drove to San diego and crashed it and the insurance company didnt see like it was financially smart to tow it back to AZ to try and fix it and instead just decided to salvage the truck and sell it where it crashed, thats just my guess. For insurance to see if they can repair it, first they would have to tow it back to AZ, then take it to a shop to estimate the repair and see if its worth repairing? Well anyways, seems like i got a great deal on this thing at $16,800 for a $45-50k truck, the only reason i think it didnt go for more is because of the AZ title in CA. The goal is to repair this thing, and bring it to a driving condition, then start planning upgrade for it, such as exhaust, lift, wheels, tires, tune etc etc... Enjoy the build guys, ill try to keep it fun and interesting if i can
bwilliams22685
Good luck. Looks like a lot of body panels will have to be replaced not to mention suspension parts. How does the frame look? Could be a steal if you have the way to get parts and own a paint shop
Sierra706
Might as well go full bore. Get a long travel kit and make yourself a nice prerunner Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
dgirouard39
Frame looks bent. That's one hell of a project. Starting at 16,800. You'll have another 10k -15k in just getting it ready for inspection to get tittle. Risky. But hopefully worth it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Heavy 5.7
$45-50k truck, It was worth that at one time but now I'm afraid that's kind of a stretch for a salvage vehicle.
Dnt
Will a salvaged title vehicle have any factory warranty?
O_J_Simpson
You way overpaid. While the truck may have listed at 45-50k the realty is it sold new for much less than that. Unless you do the work yourself and find a good donar truck you won't come out ahead without washing the salvage title.
Dnt
All Insurance companies have different calculations but typically if the cost to repair a vehicle is more than 1/2 its value they will total it. So if this is indeed a 45k truck the cost to repair was probably estimated at over 22.5k Sounds like the OP is not too worried about it and knows what he is doing. He mentioned building back a modified truck so it will be interesting to follow and see what happens. Let's get some pics of underneath that front end and underneath the door sill areas please Mr OP. Also if there was a hole knocked in the oil pan and the engine continued to run after the accident and it is toast we want to hear about that too....do not hold back man. Why would you come here and start posting videos about your salvage purchase truck and CLAIM that you just made the deal. You have other videos that were published over a week ago and the truck is in you possession, been washed and or had the control arm and tire replaced. This type of behavior is why used car salesmen have such a bad reputation.

FixitNick
After a quick wash it looks a little better and can see the damage better. The suspension is less damaged than i expected, the body is still pretty bad, will be looking for black painted fender and black doors if possible to find.
